Set Up the Edge Reminders Integration
Use the Setup tab of the Reminders editor to activate your Edge Reminders integration, select your texting phone number, choose the telephone voice, and set up how many times to retry failed messages.
Security Restricted - Only operators assigned to a security model that allows full access to the Edge Reminders Editor settings of the General Administration group can open this editor. See "Security Editor" for details.
Select Editors from the Tools section of the Home ribbon bar. Then, from the Integrations section, open the Reminders editor. (You can also use the Search field to look for the editor you want to work with.) Finally, choose the Edge Reminders plug in.
Open the Setup tab, then enter the communication details of your reminder system.
Token
The token field identifies your Edge Reminders system: Do not change this field unless you are directed to do so by an Ortho2 representative.
Phone E164 Prefix / Area Code
Enter the prefix and area code to dial for telephone calls made from Edge Reminders.
Test Phone Number
This field is currently not in use. Instead, to test your Edge Reminders system, set up a patient or responsible party with your own contact details, and send a reminder to that person.
Text Message "From" Phone Number
You must enable the text message "From" phone number in your Edge Reminders editor before Text Messaging and text reminders will work. The number is provided to you by Ortho2, and appears in the "From" phone number field when you activate Edge Reminders. When someone texts to this number, the message will be handled by your Edge Reminders system. If you have multiple offices, you will need to select the appropriate number for each office. If you do not have any phone numbers in this list, please contact your Regional Manager.
Receive Text Message Alerts
You can optionally enable the Receive Text Message Alerts option in your Edge Reminders editor if you want text messages to pop up on your screen as they come into your system. If you disable this option, you will need to open the text message window to see the messages. If you change this setting, you will need to exit and re-enter Edge Cloud before the change will take effect.
Voices
Select a recorded voice to use for the basic text of your telephone messages, and a computer voice to use for phonetic pronunciation of patient names. Be sure your choices are compatible. For example, you might choose either Jim / Man, or Amy / Woman. To test the computer voice, edit a Patient Information Panel and click the
Play button beside the first name or phonetic name to initiate a test phone call to the test phone number (above). These are system-wide settings.
Fees Apply - Standard Edge Reminders fees are incurred for testing phonetic names and messages.
Retries
Select the maximum number of retries, and minutes between retries, for telephone messages. These fields, which are operator-specific, are ignored for email and text messages.
Custom Date
This date field is used when you send an Office Closure message to notify patients of an upcoming, closure of your office (for weather, family emergency, or similar situation) . This field is ignored for all other message types.
Click
Save in your Quick Access toolbar or File ribbon bar (or press Ctrl+S on your keyboard) to save any changes you have made.
You can test your Edge Reminders setup to hear and / or see your messages by scheduling an appointment for a test patient that is set up with your own contact details, then sending Edge Reminders messages for that appointment date. To avoid sending the message to other patients accidentally, we suggest you apply a working Scheduler template to a date you don't usually see patients (such as Sunday), and schedule your test patient for that date.
