Gender Identity Editor
Use the Gender Identity editor to create a list of your patients' preferred gender pronouns. For each gender record, you can substitute the patient's first name or nickname for any pronoun type, and assign an icon that you can choose to display in the patient folder header.
Patient-Facing Identity Only - The Edge Cloud preferred gender identity feature is provided to help you better understand and communicate with your patients. Areas of Edge Cloud that require the patient's gender at birth, such as insurance details, use the assigned clinical gender.
Select Editors from the Tools section of the Home ribbon bar. Then, from the General section, open the Gender Identity editor.
Standard gender identity pronouns are included in Edge Cloud. You can click Add to create a new record, or choose an existing record that you want to edit as needed for your practice. If not all your records appear in the list, use the
Show / Hide Inactive icon at the top of the window to include both active and inactive records.
Pronoun Fields
You can enter a pronoun for each field of the selected gender record, or enable the Patient Name option to use the patient's first name or nickname in lieu of a pronoun.
Icon and Color
You can optionally select an icon from the drop down list, and choose a color to assign to the gender. You choose whether to show / hide the icon in the patient folder header with your Visual User Options.
Inactive / Active Toggle
Once you create a record, you cannot delete it. You can, however, flag it Inactive. Records you flag as Inactive are not available for general use, but they remain in your system for reporting and other data collection needs. In addition, you can toggle records back to Active whenever needed.
Click
Save in your Quick Access toolbar or File ribbon bar (or press Ctrl+S on your keyboard) to save any changes you have made.

View in Patient Folders
As you create a patient folder or edit the Patient Information Panel, you can assign both the patient's clinical gender and gender identity preference. You use the Gender Identity editor to maintain the list of gender pronouns and associated icons needed for your practice. The abbreviations "CG" (clinical gender) and "GI" (gender identity) appear on the Patient Information panel of the patient folder. You can optionally use your Visual User Options to show / hide the gender identity icon in the patient folder header. In addition, the gender identity icon appears with sibling names in the Family panel of the patient's Home page.
