Send Edge Reminders Messages

Use the New Message Set tab of your Edge Reminders window to initiate appointment reminders, birthday greetings, and other messages to subgroups of patients via phone, email, and/or text. (This feature is not available from the Reminders dashboard or application widget.)

Use This Feature

  1. Click to OpenOpen Edge Reminders - Home ribbon bar > Tasks section > Services drop down > Reminders.

  2. Click to OpenOpen New Message Set options - Click the New Message Set button, if needed.

  3. Click to OpenChoose Message - Select the type of message to send, from the list provided. When you send an Office Closure message, the Custom Date 1 field of your Reminders editor will be inserted as the date your office will be closed. (See "Set Up Edge Reminders Integration" for details about setting up the content of your text and email messages, and entering the custom date.)

  4. Click to OpenChoose Details - Enter the dates, times, delivery types, and subgroup to use for this set of reminder messages.

  5. Click to OpenCreate Set - Click New Message Set to initiate Edge Reminders.

  6. Click to OpenConfirm Patients - After a few moments, you will see a list of the patients that will be contacted with your selected message. You can click a name to open that patient folder, and de-select patients to exclude them from receiving the message.

  7. Click to OpenInitiate Reminders - Click Send. The messages will then be delivered within the date/time settings you selected.

Review Patient Confirmations & Messages - Use the Message Set History tab of your Edge Reminders window, or the Reminders widget, to review the success rate of your message deliveries, the confirmed / canceled appointment responses you have received, and to listen to voice messages patients may have left regarding their appointment reminder. We recommend that you open Edge Reminders early in your day to listen to any patient messages, and review any appointment confirmations and cancellations you have received overnight.See "Review Sent Messages" for details

Generally, a recipient simply clicks a button in an email message, presses a number for a telephone message, or texts the word "yes" or "no" to a 4-digit number. The details of the confirmation process are imbedded into your messages: Please contact Ortho2 if they need to be changed.

Delete Future Message Set - If you initiated a message set in error, you can right-click the set in the Message Set History tab or your Edge Reminders widget, and select Delete to remove the set, preventing the reminders from occurring. However, you can only delete message sets that have not yet begun to send out messages.

Contact Flags Required - You must flag the contact detail (telephone number, email address, and/or cell phone number) that you want to use to deliver reminder messages for each patient, responsible party, and professional record in your database. Otherwise, the person will not get any messages, even when they fit your selected subgroup. On the other hand, if you have flagged multiple delivery methods, the person will receive a message in each format. (However, if the patient and responsible party contact information matches, Edge Cloud will recognize the duplicate, and send only one message in that format.)

Scheduled Reminders Option - Use the Scheduled Reminders tab of your Reminders editor to schedule recurring messages, such as daily appointment reminders, and weekly birthday reminders. Once set up, active reminders will be sent automatically. See "Set Up Scheduled Reminders" for details.
