Set Up User Defined Fields

Use the User Defined Fields editor to set up the captions, or names, of unique fields available in several types of records, including fields in your Patient and Responsible Party records, your Employer, Assistant, and Insurance editors, your Office Contacts list, and your patient identification fields.

How to Get Here

• Home ribbon bar > Editors > General > User Defined Fields. (You can also search for the editor you want to work with.)

   

  Click Editors from the Tools section of the Home ribbon bar.

  

  Select General in the list at the left, and choose the User Defined Fields option.

Setup

• Edit descriptions - Click in the field you want to modify and type your changes, or cut, copy and paste text as needed.

• Patient / res. party user def 1 - These fields appear on the patient information panel, and the responsible party page of a patient folder, respectively. They require that you select a response from the Patient Custom List or the Res. Party Custom List editors.

• Patient / res. party user def text - These fields also appear on the patient information panel, and the responsible party page of a patient folder, respectively. You can type your text, including Internet hyperlinks, into these fields as needed.

• Editor -specific fields - The captions you enter in these fields appear in their respective editor . Note that certain user-defined fields require a date, while others accept any text.

Save Changes Click Save in your Quick Access toolbar or File ribbon bar (or press Ctrl+S on your keyboard) to save any changes you have made.

Notice!

• Use these fields - When you open the associated editor or record, you will see these settings as your field captions.

• Hyperlinks supported - The patient and responsible partyuser-defined fields support Internet hyperlinks: You may type Internet web site addresses, or e-mail addresses into these fields, then double-click the field to follow the hyperlink.

• Patient / responsible party custom lists - Use the Patient Custom List and Responsible Party Custom List editor to create the lists to use with the "Custom" fields in the patient folder.
