Scanner User Options
Use the Scanners tab of your User Options window to select the devices to use when you perform certain scanning actions from this computer workstation. Only scanning devices properly installed and available to this computer workstation will be available to you. Your security rights must include full access to the User Options Editor setting in the Practice Administration security group for this feature to work for you.
Open the User Options window from the File, Home, Patient, or Scheduler ribbon bar. (If the icon does not appear on the ribbon bar, click the corner drop down icon (
) to view all tools available in that section of the ribbon bar. See "Customize Edge Cloud Ribbon Bars" for details.) Then choose the Scanners tab.
All scanner options are machine settings: All users that log onto this computer workstation use the same settings. However, other workstations in your network can have different settings.
General Scanner - Choose which scanning device driver to use for your general purposes within Edge Cloud.
Imaging Scanner - Choose which scanning device or system to activate automatically when you initiate an image scan from this machine. If you do not select a scanner here, and you do not enable the Prompt option, the device you select the first time you scan an image will become the default scanner. (See "Scan Patient Images" for details.) Choose from these scanning options:
TWAIN - Enable this option and select the scanner available to your workstation. You can optionally enable the Prompt option if you want to select the scanner to use at the time you initiate the scan.
Kodak OMS - If you use the Kodak OMS integration on this workstation, select the scanning device to use with that system. (See "Kodak OMS Integration" for details about activating the integration on your machine.)
Vatech - If you use Vatech digital imaging, select the device to use for that system.
Document Scanner - Choose which scanning device to activate automatically when you initiate a document scan from this machine. You can optionally enable the Prompt option if you want to select the scanner to use at the time you initiate the scan. If you do not select a scanner here, and you do not enable the Prompt option, the device you select the first time you scan a document will become the default. (See "Scan Documents" for details.)
Barcode Scanner, Printer, and Format - Use the Barcode fields of your Scanners user options to select the type of barcode scanner you have, which format to generate, and which printer to use to obtain a hard copy of the codes. Save Your Changes - Click Ok to save the changes you have made and close the editing window.
