Send Mail Merge Documents
You can send mail merge documents to patients, responsible parties, professionals and employees in your Edge Cloud system. You can choose to view, print, capture, or email the document immediately, or send the output to a queue to be reviewed and processed at a more convenient time.
Capture Mail Merge Documents
- Use the Capture mail merge action to send merge documents to the appropriate correspondence histories, in .PDF format, without printing them or emailing them to the recipients. See "Capture Merge Documents" for details.
Email Merge Documents
- Use the Email mail merge action to send merge documents via email, as well as recording them in the appropriate correspondence histories. The text of the merge document will be used as the body of the email message, and optionally included as an attachment in .PDF format. If the merge document includes any patient images, those images will not appear in the body of the email message, but will be included in the resulting .PDF, and can optionally be included as individual email attachments. See "Email Merge Documents" for details.
Print Mail Merge Documents
- Use the Print mail merge action to send merge documents to a printer, as well as the appropriate correspondence histories. You may choose to generate an envelope along with the document to facilitate mailing. See "Print Mail Merge Documents" for details.
View Mail Merge Documents
- Use the View mail merge action to see a mail merge document on your screen, where you can review and edit it before you print it, add it to the mail merge queue, capture it to the correspondence history, or add it to Edge Signature to await signatures. See "View Mail Merge Documents" for details.
Electronically Sign Documents
- Edge Signature provides a way for your mail merge documents to be digitally signed or initialed by one or more parties, including the patient, responsible party, orthodontist, professional, operator, and assistant. Once signed, a copy is retained in the appropriate correspondence history for a permanent record. See "Edge Signature" for details.
Use the Mail Merge Queue to Send Documents Later
- Use the Merge Queue to store mail merge documents waiting to be sent to patients, dentists and other professionals. Depending upon your office protocol, you may require that pending documents be verified before they are completed. See "Mail Merge Queue" for details.
Automate Mail Merge Documents
- Use the Merge Letter workflow activity to generate a specific merge document for the patient.See "Workflow Activities" for details.
