Dental Procedures
The dental procedures you assign to your patients work seamlessly with your insurance codes and plans, your fee schedules, and your patients' billing lines to provide a comprehensive treatment, billing, and insurance cycle. You add, edit, and complete dental procedures from the patient's tooth chart, treatment chart and / or the Scheduler. In addition, the patient's treatment sequence can include detailed dental procedures that should occur with each appointment.
Create Dental Procedures - Use the Dental Procedures editor to manage the list of orthodontic and dental procedures you perform for your patients. Each procedure includes a full description and abbreviation, clinical category, any associated insurance codes, display options for the patient tooth chart, and any additional notes. You can use these procedures to plan treatment, and associate them with patient appointments to make scheduling and billing easier and more efficient. See "Dental Procedures Editor" for details.
Create Dental Procedure Groups - (Optional.) Use the Dental Procedure Group editor to manage sets of dental procedures that are most commonly scheduled together. This helps keep your appointment scheduling protocol efficient and consistent. See "Dental Procedure Groups Editor" for details.
Link Dental Procedures to Appointment Types - (Optional.) When you link dental procedures to your appointment types, those procedures will be added to a patient by default when the appointment is scheduled. You can also add and remove procedures from a patient's appointment as you schedule the appointment, or by editing the appointment in your Scheduler. See "Procedures Editor" for details.
Add Dental Procedures to a Treatment Sequence - A patient's Treatment Sequence details the future appointments that should take place. You can add dental procedures to the sequence to customize the appointments for each patient. See "Treatment Sequence" for details.
Add Dental Procedures to a Treatment Chart - You can apply dental procedures to individual teeth or other mouth areas from a patient's tooth chart, and manage the procedures from the treatment chart. See "Patient Tooth Chart" for details. Once created, the procedure appears among the patient's treatment chart records on the Treatment Hub page, and in the Procedures tab of the Insurance page.
Add Dental Procedures to an Appointment - You can link dental procedures to patient appointments as you schedule an appointment, or by editing appointment details. See "Edit Appointment Details" for details.
Edit Dental Procedure Details - Right-click a procedure in the patient's treatment chart, or edit a scheduled appointment to manage the dental procedures. You can edit the details, add notes, and change the status. Once a dental procedure is flagged as "completed", you can edit it only for the next 24 hours. After that, the record becomes permanent.
Add Treatment Chart Details - You can optionally assign a treatment chart style to a dental procedure. Then, after applying the procedure to a patient folder, you can edit that procedure and enter the treatment chart details. These details remain in the dental procedure record, and do not appear in the list of treatment chart records.
Manage Procedure Groups - Click an appointment header in your treatment chart, or click the bar at the far left edge of a dental procedure to select that procedure group. The right-click to work with all the procedures in that group.
Complete a Procedure / Charge Fee - Right-click a procedure in the patient's treatment chart and select Mark Completed, or edit a scheduled appointment and change the procedure status to Completed. Before saving, you can review and edit the procedure details, including the fee, and add any notes relevant to this patient. Once completed, the fee is charged out to the responsible party and / or insurance plan(s) according to the assigned billing line. Once a dental procedure is flagged as "completed", you can edit it only for the next 24 hours. After that, the record becomes permanent.
Include Dental Procedures on Appointment Day Sheet - Choose the Dental Procedures type of Appointment Day Sheet to include the scheduled appointment details, along with any planned dental procedures that are linked to the appointments, on the report. See "Appointment Day Sheet" for details.
Dental Procedures Report - Run a Dental Procedures report to obtain a list of procedures that were planned, completed, referred, rejected, deleted, and added as existing, for any range of dates. Choose between a detail report that shows all the patient names, or a summary report that lists the number of each procedure involved. You may select the procedures to include, or include all procedures on the report. In addition, you may filter the report by office, doctor, and/or assistant. See "Dental Procedures Report" for details.
