Open Patient Folders with Fast Find

Use Fast Find to search for the patient record you want to work with by typing all or part of the name, phone number, ID code, or other search criteria you have enabled. The list of matching patients can optionally include a photo. In addition, you can quickly reopen patient folders you have worked with recently.

Get Started

Set up Search Options - Use the Search tab of your User Options window to select the data fields Edge Cloud will use to search for patient folders and other records. You may change the settings at any time without affecting any other workstation.See "Search Options" for details.

Use This Feature

  1. Click to OpenOpen Fast Find Window - You can open this feature in multiple ways: Use the method that's most convenient for you.

  2. Click to OpenEnter Search Text - Type all or part of the last name, first name, nickname, or primary ID number, or other search criteria you have enabled for finding patient folders (See "Search Options" for details). You can also use a combination of the beginning of the last name and the beginning of the first name, separating the two names or name portions with a period (i.e. dowl.cher). Or, click [V] beside the search box to select from your list of recently searched names. When your search string does not include a ".", the search will look at both sides of the string for matches. For example, if you can type 2331026 to find the phone number (515) 233-1026.

    Swipe Reward Card - If you have the patient's reward card available, once the Fast Find window opens, you can simply the card to open the patient record. (See "Manage Patient Reward Cards" for details.)

  3. Click to OpenInitiate Search - Click Find to initiate the search.

  4. Click to OpenSelect a Record - Click Ok, or double-click the name. (If only one name matches your search criteria, that record is opened for you automatically.) The patient name, id number, and other details are included in the list to help you identify the correct patient. (You can choose whether all additional search fields are included in the results window as well. See "Search Options" for details.)

    Click to OpenRe-Sort Records - You can click a column heading, such as the Nickname, to sort the results by that column. (Your Search User Options determine whether all search fields are included in the results, and whether your search text is highlighted. See "Search Options" for details.)

Create a New Patient Folder - If Fast Find does not find the patient you are searching for, you can click Add New at the bottom of the Fast Find window to open the New Patient window and create the folder. See "Create a New Patient Folder " for details.

More Information

Alert Stop - If the patient has an alert trigger enabled for this feature, the Alert Stop pup-up window will appear when you initiate this feature for the patient. Review the alert information, then click the box to continue. (See "Patient Alerts" for details.).)

Click to OpenFamily Search - When you are assigning a new patient to a family, or reassigning an existing patient to a family, you can search for either the family or patient name, to help you determine the correct family association.

Patient Tracker / Scheduler - You can also right-click a patient name in your Patient Tracker or Scheduler to open the patient folder.

Barcode - You can also scan a patient barcode to open that Edge Cloud patient folder. See "Patient Barcodes" for details.

Click to OpenOpen from Edge Cloud Link - Whenever you see an underlined name in Edge Cloud (such as while viewing the Family panel of a patient folder, or hovering over a Scheduler appointment), you can click the name to open the folder.

Trigger a Workflow -   Use the Open Patient workflow trigger to activate a workflow whenever you open an Edge Cloud patient folder.

Automate Opening Patient Folders - Use the Open Patient workflow activity to open the patient folder whenever the activity is triggered by a workflow. Use the Workflow editor to select the tab you want to open when this activity is triggered. See "Workflow Editor" for details.
