Receipt of Payment Forms
You can generate a receipt of payment for your patients as you post the transaction, or after the transaction is complete, in a variety of formats. When you print a receipt as you post a payment, a copy of the receipt is automatically added to both the patient and responsible party correspondence history. If you print a receipt later, the event is not recorded. The payment method is noted in the memo section of the receipt form. In addition, you may choose to email receipts to responsible parties, rather than printing them.
Use the Default Forms section of your Reports and Forms editor to select the default format to use for paper forms. This is the format that will be selected when you run the form from the Forms option of the Home or Patient ribbon bar. If you have purchased customized forms, you may choose your form as the default. If needed, you can set up different default forms for individual offices and specialties in your practice. See "Reports and Forms Editor" for details.
This format will only be used when you print receipts; use the Form Email editor to set up receipts that you email to patients.
You can use pre-printed, personalized forms, instead of printing this form on plain paper. Before posting the payment, enable the Display receipt after posting option at the bottom of the window. This option is for non-credit card receipts only: A receipt is always generated for credit card payments whether or not this option is enabled.

When you select the email option, you can then choose to send the message to any email address associated with the responsible party that made the payment.
Correspondence History Tracking - When you print a receipt at the time a payment is posted, the event is recorded in both the patient and responsible party Correspondence History. This receipt is a copy of the form that appeared on your screen as you posted the transaction, including any signature. If you print a receipt later, the event is not recorded in the Correspondence History.
View / Print a Receipt from Correspondence History
If you generate a receipt as a payment is posted (described above), you can open and print that receipt from the patient or responsible party correspondence history. When opening a receipt from the patient folder, receipts that you captured or printed as you posted a transaction will appear in the Correspondence History tab: Receipts that you sent via email will be in the Email tab.

Emailed Receipts Not Being Delivered
If some or all of your Edge Reminders email messages, Edge Broadcast newsletters, or emailed appointment cards and payment receipts aren't being delivered, they are likely being flagged as spam, or blocked as unverified transmissions by the recipients' email providers. If you have ascertained from patients and parents that the message was not delivered to their spam folder or blocked by their spam filters, you can often resolve the problem by configuring your domain records to allow Edge data center messages in your sender list. See "DMARC/SPF: Undelivered Emails" for details.
