Use the Trigger editor to tell Edge which workflow to initiate whenever a certain action or event occurs.
How to Get Here
Home Ribbon Bar - Tools section > Editors > Workflows > Triggers. (You can also search for the editor you want to work with.)
Click Editors from the Tools section of the Home ribbon bar.
Select Workflows in the list at the left and choose the Triggers option.
Setup
Choose Trigger - The possible triggers, or Edge events, that can initiate a workflow are listed at the left of the window, along with any workflow that is already assigned to the trigger. Click to highlight the trigger you want to work with. (Note that a few triggers, such as Status Change triggers, are found in their respective editors, and not in the Triggers editor. These triggers are indicated at the end of this article.)
Appliance Checked In - Use the Appliance Checked In trigger to activate a workflow whenever a patient appliance has been flagged as "received", regardless of the appliance type. See "Manage Patient Appliances" for details. In addition, you can trigger a workflow whenever a specific type of appliance is either "sent" or "received" with the Appliances editor.
Appointment Triggers - Use appointment triggers (Canceled, Changed, Deleted, Kept, Made, Missed) to activate workflows whenever patient appointments are processed in a specific way, regardless of the procedure. Appointment workflows are triggered only through the appointment processing function: They are not triggered when you use drag & drop to change an appointment, or when you change the appointment status from the patient's Appointment History. In addition, you can trigger procedure-specific workflows with the Procedure editor.
Contract Changed - Use the Contract Changed trigger to activate a workflow whenever you change the contract structure of an existing patient contract.
Contract Paid in Full - Use the Contract Pain in Full trigger to activate a workflow whenever a receipt transaction results in paying off the patient's contract.
Create Contract - Use the Create Contract trigger to activate a workflow whenever you create a new contract for a patient.
Create / Edit Treatment Chart Entry - Use the Create Treatment Chart Entry or Edit Treatment Chart Entry trigger to activate a workflow whenever you create or edit a treatment chart record for a patient.
Extraction Request- Use the Extraction Request trigger to activate a workflow whenever you apply the Extraction Request property to a patient's tooth chart.
Needs Appointment - Use the Needs Appointment trigger to activate a workflow whenever you process an appointment or change a patient status that places them on your needs appointment list. (Note that placing a patient on the needs appointment list by creating a Treatment Chart record will not trigger the workflow.)
New Operator - Use the New Operator trigger to activate a workflow whenever a new operator account is created in your Edge system.
New Patient - Use the New Patient trigger to activate a workflow whenever a new patient folder is created in your Edge system. (This workflow will not be triggered when using the Promote feature to create a patient folder from a non-patient family member.)
Open Treatment Chart - Use the Open Treatment Chart trigger to activate a workflow whenever you open the Treatment Hub page of a patient folder. Use the Open Treatment Chart trigger to activate a workflow whenever you open the Treatment Hub page of a patient folder. See "View Treatment Hub" for details.
Patient Tracker Triggers - Use Patient Tracker workflow triggers (Checkout, Exit, Seat, Sign-in) to activate workflows whenever you move a patient from one section of your Patient Tracker to another. See "View & Update Patient Tracker" for details.
Transaction Excluded From Deposit Slip - Use the Transaction Excluded from Deposit Slip workflow trigger to activate a workflow whenever you flag a ledger receipt with Exclude From Deposit Slip. (Note that receipt adjustments and refunds are always excluded from the deposit slip, and do not trigger this workflow.)
Create a New Workflow - Click the Workflow Wizard icon, then choose the activity you would like to initiate with this event. After you define the activity properties, a new workflow is created, and assigned to this trigger.
Click Workflow Wizard.
Choose an activity.
Define the properties. The properties available depend upon the type of activity you selected. Note that certain activities have properties that are not available from the wizard, and must be set up directly from the Workflow editor. See "Set Up Workflow Activity Properties" for details.
Save your workflow.
Assign / Remove Existing Workflow - Click in the Workflow column of the trigger you want to work with, and choose an existing workflow to start whenever the selected event or action occurs. To remove a workflow assignment, choose the blank workflow option at the top of the list. (See "Set Up Workflows" for details about creating and editing workflows.)
Save Changes Click Save in your Quick Access toolbar or File ribbon bar (or press Ctrl+S on your keyboard) to save any changes you have made.
More Information
Edit Workflows - Use the Workflows editor to create and edit your workflows, the series of actions that you want to initiate whenever an event occurs in Edge. See "Set Up Workflows" for details.
Status Change Trigger - Use the Workflow field of the Status editor to assign a workflow to trigger whenever you change a patient status to a specific description. See "Set Up Status List" for details.
Appliance Triggers - The appliance workflow you assign in the Trigger editor is not specific to an appliance type: It will function whenever any appliance is flagged as "received". However, you can use the Appliance editor to assign workflows to activate whenever you send and / or receive a specific appliance type for a patient. See "Set Up Appliance & Destination Lists" for details.
Appointment Triggers - The appointment workflows you assign in the Trigger editor are not procedure-specific: They will function whenever the trigger occurs for any appointment. However, you can use the Procedure editor to assign workflows that will work only when the trigger occurs for a specific procedure. (See "Set Up Procedure List" for details.)
